THE WARRIOR PATH

The Hunter stood, clad in green and bearing his Bow. His sword was sheathed at His side, and His eyes shone.

"Hear now of the Warrior, that person who fights."

"When the time comes to stand up and preserve your freedoms, then it is the Warrior who rises. He it is that takes up arms to defend his home and family. She it is that perseveres thru the travails of childbirth. He it is that combats hate, and bigotry, and hunger, and thirst, and loneliness. It is those that teach children, that combat ignorance in all its forms. It is those that fight disease, and pain, and preserve the order of things in your towns and gatherings. These are the walkers of the Warrior Path."

"It is not Glory. It is not Honor. It is not Victory. It is not the killing of your fellow humans in a hecatomb of blood."

"It is the defense of the weak against those that would disempower them. It is the showing of the Truth against the Lie."

"And think long and hard about that which you perceive as Truth, for while that Truth may be yours, it may not be someone else's. To live in peace with your neighbor, even though your neighbor may not follow your Path, is the greatest good."

"But if your neighbor take up arms against you, then defend yourself as much as is needful. If your neighbor bear false witness against you, then correct the lie. And if your neighbor hunger, feed him. If your neighbor is naked, clothe him. And always give him a helping hand to allow him to stand as a self-sufficient human, beholden to none."

"And if it is your choice not to bear arms, then do so, and fight weaponless save for your knowledge and skills."

"And those who will not fight, let them be exempt from war and the Warrior Path with no stigma nor degradation, for theirs is a harder Path than this."

"And for those who cannot fight, harm them not, but protect them with all your power."

"Fight not in hate. Fight not in anger. Fight without passion or cruelty, and when the combat is done, give your hand to your opponent in love."

"But avoid violence as best you may. Speak soft words before you shout. Step aside when you can. Give a soft answer to hard words, and love in return for hate, for hate breeds hate, and love engenders love."

"And if the fight is forced upon you, then fight without guilt, and without hate or greed."

Thus it was, and so it is, and evermore shall be so!
